We decided that since summer is closing in on us that we’ll take each Friday to talk about adventures that we have with our kids in and around the Twin Cities area. I’ve realized while writing my bucket list that there are so many things that I’ve never done or seen in my own backyard. So last weekend our family decided to check out Minnehaha Falls. It’s just east of Hiawatha and north of 62/55, near Fort Snelling State Park. So in case you’re like me and have lived here for over 10 years and never visited, now you know where to go…
That’s right, I’d never been there. Lucy is enchanted with waterfalls as of late and, other than parking, it’s free and you can bring your own food and beverages. The park was huge (I had no idea) and well worth the time. The view was fabulous, there were all sorts of trails along the creek/river, there were some great toddler friendly playgrounds. There’s also a historic house you can tour, lots of picnic tables, Sea Salt restaurant, an old train station, and lots of beautiful flowers and people watching. We had a great time and Lucy was in awe. It was a memorable Sunday afternoon and we got to spend some time outside, running around. Time well spent. Plus I got to check something off of our family bucket list.
Tell me, what places close to home have you discovered lately?
