Things On My Mind {1.06.12}

That was weird! I just typed the title of this post and almost typed 11 (2011) instead of 12. Yes, Carin it is 2012!!
2012 – That means I have 4 months to plan a 3 yrs old party, 4.5 months to plan a 1st birthday party and then hopefully come up with something awesome for my husbands birthday, all in the month of May. How did it get to be so close? Myles was just born!
Yesterday I revealed that my husband and I are heading out of town next month for parents only tropical vacation. To add to the excitement, I ordered two new pairs of flip flops last night (hope they fit). For more pool/beach wear I ordered these and for more casual dinner/sundress wearing I ordered these – love the color!
Speaking of vacations – what do you normally pack for a tropical vacation? I was thinking we would be spending most of our time relaxing by the pool or beach, so I really only need to pack a few swim suits, a couple of pair of shorts, a skirt or two, a few sundresses. I really want to avoid overpacking and get away with a carry on suitcase if possible. I am a chronic overpacker. Any advice from some experts out there?
I joined Melissa and Gina’s book club. I now have one guaranteed night out each month. Yeah ME!
We had Myles’ 6 mo pictures taken last month by Kim Monson of Living Room Studios: Portraits. They turned out awesome and now I just need to narrow it down to our favs and we will receive our CD. If you need a great photographer for kids pics or any other event, give them a call. Here is a sneak peak

The kids start swim lessons in a few weeks. I need to get out to the mall and find a nice one piece suit. I don’t think my two piece suits are appropriate for swim lessons. Any suggestions on where to go for a decently priced and cute one piece?
One more question! I recieved an Ipod Shuffle for Christmas to use while I run on the toture device called a treadmill. Any suggestions for running worthy tunes to add to my playlist?

I hope you will have a fantastic vacation with lots of qualiy adult time. I’m not jealous at all 😉
When it comes to packing the best advise i can give you, is to just bring your favorites. There might be an opportunity to pick up some clothes locally and I always like to get clothes that remind me of a beautiful vacation.

So excited for your vacation! I’m in packing mode right now. Here’s what it looks like for my week: swimsuits, basic coverup for swim wear, a few skirts and tops that I can mix and match, basic color cardigans, 3 sundresses (that also go with the cardigans) workout clothes, 3 shoes: running, casual flip flops, dressier sandals for night time, That’s it!
Keep it simple!

Thanks for the advice Jen, just what I was thinking! HAve a great time on your trip. We will have to plan a double date after our trip to talk trips and catch up. Haven’t seen you guys in forever!
I would be excited about a trip too, if only we could come up with a date. But forget the two other BIG events in May, Mother’s Day and MY birthday. You can plan everything on YOUR trip. No don’t, just have fun and enjoy the sun and warmth.
Mom we will enjoy our trip thanks to you, brenda and matt/amanda! The thing about those other special events in May, I don’t have to plan them!!! I have to sisters who can plan your birthday and a husband who is in charge of mothers day!
I always overpack for all-inclusive vacations. You’re right- you’re mainly in a swimsuit all day, and then in the evening something dressier for dinner and the fine resort ‘entertainment.’ Myles is so cute!! Do you need any more clothes? I have a pile of 12 month stuff if you want it.
Anne, that is what I was thinking, so I am planning on taking a carry on suitcase so make sure I don’t overpack! We would love more clothes, he is BIG, at 7 mo he is almost wearing 12 month stuff….future football player maybe?
Cute baby! I love his name. . . my Miles will be three in March! I’ve been amazed how many other little Miles’ there are out there.
